    Bombay-based Rajesh lives a fairly wealthy lifestyle with his parents, mom - a housewife and dad - a rather parsimonious businessman, named Amirchand. One day while walking on the beach, he comes across a beautiful blind girl named Shivani. He instantly falls in love with her. She also likes him, but understands that they cannot be married. Regardless of this, Rajesh asks his parents to permit him to marry her, to which his mother agrees, but his father refuses. Then Mr. Rai, Amirchand's friend, intervenes, he offers to pay for getting Shivani's eyes tested, and if she succeeds in getting her sight, then and only then can Amirchand permit his son to marry her. An eye specialist is consulted, who concludes that the only way Shivani can see is through the eyes of a dead donor. The question remains how long will it take for a donor to come forward, and if nothing happens, will Rajesh consent to marry someone of his father's choice?

On the way, he meets one of his ardent fans Nakul Vaid, who is a filmmaker by profession and is devoted to Dasrath's pieces of writings. They discuss about the novels that Dasrath has written and dig the past by striking a conversation about one of his famous novel's Janaza. Lajvanti is a prostitute and Janaza is all about her. After receiving the award, Dasrath moves on to explore the life of Lajvanti yet again. He starts for his hunt without informing anyone from his family. As far as Dasrath's memories go, Lajvanti used to perform mujras in Mehndi Galli. People from every part of the society used to assemble here to blow away their part of naughtiness. Time has changed and so has Lajvanti. She is now Miss Lisa and mujras have been replaced by popular filmi songs. Lajobai gets a shock when she finds Dasrath in front of her. She treats him by singing some of the finest melodies of the past. Things take a toll when their lives play a small turn around.

One day Asha tells them that she knows about Khetan, and an overjoyed family rush over to meet him. This is then when they will have to face the truth about Khetan and Meenu, and the life the later has chosen to live.
